Although it was officially Spring awhile ago, today was the epitome of the season. It was plus 12 and no wind. Most of our day was spent outside. Behind our house is the "tot lot". A playground the perfect size for 7 and under. Consequently, our family spends a great deal of time there. One of the great things about our set up is that I can garden and watch the kids at the same time.
Today the lawn was finally raked, and I was able to dig up the flower bed beside the house. I was so surprised to discover that we have new strawberry leaves growing already and lady bugs galore. I'm hoping to start planting the garden in the next couple of weeks, which is very early for Saskatchewan. Glynn put the canopy on the gazebo in our court yard and started hauling out the flower pots and gardening accoutrements.
Glynn works this week, so it's just the girls and I at home. Most of our time was spent playing. The greatest sound is Chloe's squeals of delight as she swings higher and higher in the toddler swings. Rebekah is old enough to be able to swing by herself, although she does like the occasional under duck.
Tonight we went for the first bike ride of the season. One of our favourite things to do. Rebekah is learning to ride her two-wheeler. However, when we go for a family bike ride, both girls hop into the bike trailer and away we go. We saw plenty of geese in the sky, heading back home for the summer. One of the sure signs spring has arrived. Their honk is always a welcome sound. The wind was a bit cold on the hands, but it was still wonderful to be out.
