The first day of Spring

Today is the first day of Spring. Our snow is not completely gone yet; however, with the temperatures we've been having, it should all be melted by the end of this week!! Consequently, Rebekah and Chloe have been spending more and more time outside, much to their great joy.

Last weekend we went to Regina. Saturday morning we took all of the girls to It's a Blast, and they were able to play for several hours. Even Melissa enjoyed running and crawling around. In the afternoon the girls were able to visit with my parents, as Glynn and I went furniture shopping. We're looking for a new couch & love seat. There's one set that we really like, so far, but we haven't finished looking yet.

Yesterday Glynn took Rebekah & two of her friends to the farm to visit the cows & chickens. The girls were a bit chagrined that no other animals could be found. Apparently, cows are not that exciting. Afterwards, Rebekah had to go to her skating lesson. Next weekend is her year end ice show.

Glynn spent most of today installing carpet in Rebekah's room. Rebekah is thrilled with her "new room", and is now diligently cleaning her Barbie house, so that it too is all clean. It's funny how renovating one room somehow makes a disaster out of the rest. So I think we'll probably spend the rest of the weekend cleaning up the mess.

In like a lamb...

We have had the most beautiful weather for the past two weeks, although we still have a lot of snow that needs to melt. The Olympics is over and lent has begun. Last week we went through a bit of Olympics withdrawl. We, along with the girls, watched a lot of Olympics, including the fabulous Canada/US hockey game. Chloe would run around chanting, "Go Canada!!"

We are trying to teach our girls the purpose and meaning of Lent and Easter. Because it's a more sombre season, there are not as many resources. This year we're going to celebrate a Passover Seder. As well, with Rebekah, we are creating a lenten cross out of pictures. Each day has a reading that draws us into the story of Lent and the resurrection. There is a picture that goes with each day that Rebekah colours; Once all the pictures are finished it will form a cross. Glynn has given up mindless tv for Lent. Instead of giving up something this year, I've decided to learn all I can about modern slavery and human trafficking. and then begin to make changes to how we spend our money.

Rebekah is finishing up her skating lessons. At the end of March is the year end ice show, so they are busy preparing their routines and parents are busy preparing costumes. The theme this year is based on the Olympics.

Glynn has been off work for the past two weeks, and is at home today, as well. Since today I was home by lunch, we spent the afternoon puddle jumping with the girls. By the time we got home, we were all soaked. On the weekend, Glynn took down our outside Christmas lights and decorations, and we've begun to do some Spring cleaning.
